The students at Escola Filipa de Vilhena (Porto) were very interested in the Portuguese Banking Association's activities for Financial Education Day.  Third-year students from the Banking Techniques and Operations Course at the Bank Training Institute (IFB) took part in the event, simulated bank operations and explained banking services to these special customers.

The Pilot Branch was open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and very well attended. The students opened more than 80 accounts and deposited over 140,000 euros with the 'notes' they were given by the APB/IFB to simulate banking operations.

Fábio Franco and the other IFB students were rushed off their feet serving so many customers. Franco summed the initiative up as follows: “It was a very interesting day and exceeded my expectations. I didn't think that the young people would be so interested in how banks work. I feel that it was a success. The students from Escola Secundária Filipa de Vilhena committed to the tasks and challenges 100% and so it was a pleasure for us IFB students to help them learn a little more about finance”.

The financial education game attracted more than 180 students who had fun testing their knowledge of banking and finance. The touch screen quiz on financial culture and the Good Practices, Good Accounts http://www.bpbc.pt website, where they can learn how to use banking services, were another meeting point for dozens of students to show what they did (or didn't!) know about banking products and services.

The outcome of the APB and IFB's participation in this event organised by the PNFF (National Financial Education Plan) can be considered highly positive for the IFB students and all the visitors, judging from the visitors' comments.
