Associação Portuguesa de Bancos (APB - Portuguese Banking Association) and TVI organised, On 17 May, a conference entitled ‘The Present and the Future of the Banking Sector’ to discuss and examine the main challenges and key issues facing banks today.

The speakers at the event included Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, António Costa, Prime Minister, Mário Centeno, Minister of Finance, Danièle Nouy, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, Elke König, Chair of the Single Resolution Board and Carlos Costa, Governor of Banco de Portugal.

MEP Elisa Ferreira and Wim Mijs, President of the European Banking Federation, were also among the speakers, along with a number of prominent figures in the Portuguese banking sector.

The conference was held in the Ballroom at the Ritz Four Seasons Hotel in Lisbon, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 17 May.
