A seminar entitled Digital Security in the Banking Sector, organised by the (APB) and SRS Advogados, was held in the SRS Advogados Auditorium at 21 Rua Francisco Manuel de Melo in Lisbon from 8:45 to 11:00 a.m. on 4 July.

The seminar was opened by Pedro Rebelo de Sousa, Senior Partner at SRS Advogados and President of Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA), and Fernando Faria de Oliveira, President of the APB.

The discussion that followed was moderated by Octávio Castelo Paulo, partner at SRS Advogados. Presentations were given by Paulino Magalhães Corrêa, Consultant to the Board at Banco de Portugal, Francisco Paupério, Director of Information Security and Operational Risks at BPI, Rui Melo Biscaia, Director of Product Management at Watchful Software, Sandra Martins, Associate Partner at Deloitte and Luís Neto Galvão, partner at SRS Advogados.

At the end there was an interesting discussion between the speakers and the 100 or so participants, focusing on sensitive issues such as security in critical systems, phishing, public and private clouds, biometric recognition systems and the significant impact of the future European regulation on personal data protection in the banking sector.
