Banks organise joint prevention campaign about the main online safety rules.

With the slogan “Happy Easter with Active Safety” the APB's Interbank Forum for Online Safety, whose members include important financial institutions in Portugal, is launching another awareness and prevention operation. It stresses how essential it is to always be aware of safety issues, especially at festive times when there is an increase in criminal activity, such as phishing and other attacks that can infect internet access.

This is the banks' seventh joint awareness campaign. It begins on 11 April and will be available on the banks' websites until 21 April 2014.

Be aware and never ignore safety issues!

Not everything should be shared. Computers and smartphones must be used responsibly and you need to be careful about the information you give on social networks:

  • Don't give personal details such as full name, address, phone numbers or email addresses on social networks or web pages that say they represent your bank;
  • Don't put blind trust in other social network users. They may just be ordinary anonymous web users or friends with compromised accounts.
  • Be careful with online games. As they are very popular with young people, they may be a ruse to get passwords and personal information.

The banks' advice is that if you find that the information requested for access to your home banking has been changed without prior notice contact you bank immediately.

It's up to you to protect your computer, tablet or smartphone and personal details!

Wishing you a happy Easter!
