Safe access to your accounts depends on you. Protect yourself!

Banks conduct joint prevention campaign drawing attention to the main safety rules that we should follow when using the internet.

The APB Interbank Online Safety Forum, to which important Portuguese financial institutions belong, is conducting another awareness and prevention campaign. It stresses that it is essential to be on your guard and not ignore safety issues, especially during the summer holidays when there is an increase in crimes, such as phishing and other attacks that can infect our internet access devices.

The eighth joint bank awareness campaign begins on 7 July and will be on the banks' websites until 5 September 2014.

Be on your guard and never ignore safety issues!

You must use computers and smartphones responsibly and be careful with the information that you give on social networks. There are things that you should not share:

  • Don't give out personal details such as your full name, address, phone numbers or email addresses on social networks or web pages that purport to belong to your bank.
  • Don't trust blindly in other social network contacts, who may just be unknown users but could be friends with compromised accounts.
  • Be wary of online games, which kids particularly enjoy. Some of them are just a trick to obtain passwords and personal details.

The banks tell people to contact their bank immediately if the information requested on the home-banking access page has been altered without notice.

It's up to you to protect your computer, tablet or smartphone and personal details!

Have a great summer holiday!
