As part of the World Investor Week, which this year takes place from 3 to 7 October, the APB will promote another edition of the BANKING OPEN DAY, a day in which banks seek to enlighten small investors on a wide range of topics.

This year, the OPEN DAY enlightenment sessions will be dedicated to young people, in particular those who want to start saving or investing and wish to do it in a sustainable way. Thus, during the week, the APB, in collaboration with representatives of member banks, will promote two webinars aimed at secondary and vocational school students on investment products and online security.

1st session | 3 Oct | 2.00pm-3.30pm |From traditional to virtual: what are the options for those who want to start investing?

In this enlightenment session, led by Steven Santos, BIG's Trading and Platforms Manager, we will talk about the various investment solutions available in the market for those who want to start investing their money in a sustainable way. We will start by addressing the more conservative savings options, such as term deposits, then the more complex ones, such as shares and investment funds, without forgetting the virtual ones, such as crypto-activities. We will also try to make the youngest aware of the specificities of each of these products and the risks incurred and precautions to be taken when contracting them.

2nd session | October 7 | 09.30am-10.30am | What precautions should you take when you are online?

In this enlightenment session, led by Duarte Pupo Correia, from Novobanco, we will talk about fraud attempts - such as Phishing or Malware - that may occur when we are online, whether making a purchase or payment, surfing the social networks or going to the bank. In this session, we will also try to give some advice and talk about good practices that young people should adopt in order to avoid being victims of fraud when using the digital channels.

The webinars will take place online and are open to all secondary and vocational schools, with more than 300 students enrolled so far. Schools or teachers who are interested in participating in the 2022 BANKING OPEN DAY should send an email to educacaofinanceira@apb.pt
