Around 30 schools nationwide marked a presence in the 5th edition of the Open Banking Day, promoted by the APB, which this year took place on 3 and 7 October.

The two information sessions, for which approximately 600 secondary school students from various schools around the country enrolled, were held online.

These webinars were streamed live via the World Investor Week YouTube channel and can be viewed at any time.

Session 1 - From traditional to virtual: what are the options for those who want to start investing?

Enlightenment session led by Steven Santos, BIG's Trading and Platforms Manager, where the various investment solutions available in the market were addressed, for those who want to start investing their money in a sustainable way. In particular, the speaker addressed the specificities of term deposits, equities and crypto-assets, and the precautions to be taken when contracting them.

Session 2 - What precautions should you take when you are online?

Enlightenment session, led by Duarte Pupo Correia, from Novobanco, where the various fraud attempts - such as Phishing or Malware - that may occur when we are online, either making a purchase or payment, surfing the social networks or going to the bank, were addressed. Throughout the session, some advice and good practices that younger people should adopt in order to avoid becoming victims of fraud when using the digital channels were also conveyed.

This was the fifth consecutive year that the APB participated in the World Investor Week with its BANKING OPEN DAY, this year dedicated to young people who want to start investing and wish to do so in a safe and sustainable way.

The World Investor Week is a global initiative promoted by IOSCO with the aim of raising awareness to the importance of financial education and investor protection. In Portugal, this initiative is promoted by the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), together with partners in the financial and economic sector, including the APB.

Under the theme "Investing in a sustainable future", this year's World Investor Week comprised 27 initiatives, promoted by 11 partners, which were viewed by over 3,700 people, through a dedicated YouTube channel.
